Titomic has unveiled its new Augmented Reality (AR) software suite designed for the D523 portable cold spray Additive Manufacturing machine. This innovation marks the first application of AR technology in the cold spray AM field, bringing enhanced precision and efficiency to repair processes across various industries.

The D523 machine is widely used in sectors such as aerospace, defense, manufacturing, and oil & gas for its ability to repair metal components without causing thermal damage. The newly developed AR suite, in collaboration with a technology partner, integrates Microsoft HoloLens to provide real-time data, including temperature, system settings, and optimal nozzle ranges for specific repair tasks. This advancement allows operators to carry out repairs with increased accuracy and repeatability while maintaining traceable maintenance records to meet regulatory standards.

Enhancing Repair Processes with AR

The AR Suite optimizes repair procedures by incorporating pre-set parameters for standard maintenance tasks, such as wheel and landing gear repairs. This improves operational efficiency and product safety, making it particularly useful in Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) operations. With real-time monitoring and feedback, operators can ensure that repairs meet stringent quality and compliance requirements.

The AR suite is an optional add-on to the D523 machine and complements Titomic’s range of services, including coatings, repairs, and powder sales, further expanding its offering to customers across a broad range of industries.
